Week #15

Hoo boyo it keeps going.

First a plastic sister of an unnamed Clan, but using Blue & Green for her colors. Shes armed with a meltagun and a helmet whose faceplate is up.

I think her colors came out a tad bright so I may return and darken them down a smidge.

Tilted her up a bit so you can get a better look at the face & helmet.

Next is an Ur-ghul. One of the natural denizens of the Blackstone Fortress. I don't really know much about these guys. He was easy to paint though, effectively 2 colors. Snow Shadow skin, then Drakenhoff nightshade then anothe rmore specific coat of Snow shadow.

I did my standard BSF basing of Dark Grey+2 washes of black ink followed by a coating of gloss varnish to give it that glassy obsidian look.

Then I painted up my Sister Hospitalier. The field medic of the Adepta Sororitas. She belongs to no clan and thus gets a white habit instead of the standard tartan ones.

It was refreshing to just paint a flat white instead of the pattern for once. I like the pulpy look of my white.

Next up is another Cultist this one sporting a big Fur robe. Its impossible to tell but I think this one might be a girl? I have no idea.

And the other side with a bigger section of the fur.

And a front view.

Next is an adepta Sororitas of the blue clan whom I think I've named Arsellac.

With her Combiflamer this will be the sister superior leading the Arsellac Squad.

My 3rd Beastman! this time getting into the other pose but back to the big choppy weapon!

Hes a big brutal guy.

Next up is another of the Emeraldgard. This time armed with a Hotshot Volleygun which imo is somewhat underappreciated thanks to its 24" range and I think S4 but it gets 4 shots at AP -2!

Tilted up a bit for a better view of his helmet!

And his back!+Backpack!

This time the Cultist sSquad Leader. This guy is pretty awesome if I do say so myself. Very Jin-roh aesthetic on the helmet there.

Tilted up for a better look at the mask.

And his back.

Next is Arch Confessor Kyrinov for 40k. Painted up to more closely match my Sisters. Hes a neat guy with a big power maul.

This is Janus Draik the Rogue Trader and likely Leader of the Blackstone Fortress explorers. A daring rogue off to win fame and fotrune (for the Imperium)

Slight angle adjustment.

I decided his fur pelt creature should look something like a tiger.

And one last angle on him. He was a fun model to paint and I really like the blue of his coat.

A second Ur-ghul. painted in almost the exact same way but near the hands and some sections of the face I used druchi violet (purple) for my shade color instead of drakenhof nightshade (blue)

I think it looks really good on the hands.

Next I have my second Negavolt cultist. These models are kind of obnoxious to paint with all the spindly little bits but he came out really nicely.

This is only the second model I've painted with black skin and I think he came out a lot nicer this time around. I picked up some paints specifically for this cuz my only other flesh paints were pale and slightly tanned. Now I have a dark skin tone set and a vampire skin tone set as well (though I haven't tried the vampire one)

Some foreshortening from the front.

Our brave imperials find themselves caught between chaos cultists on the right and Ur-ghuls on the left.

Week #14

HEY HO, I've been Furloughed so time to get busy painting!

First up I painted a dwarf from the LotR line. His axe is a bit bend near the head but I didn't want to fiddle with it for fear of it breaking (flimsy pewter mini!). He came out pretty alright.

This is kind of the style I plan for the dwarves of Lythia's retreat to be in. But unfortunately this particular model has almost no cloth so you can only see a tiny bit near the bottom of his metal skirt.

Well well well

Wots all this then?

Then I painted up a Cherubim... the creepy baby angel servitors of 40k. For those that might not know Servitors are how the Imperium gets around the "no AI" rule by having lobotimized people act as the CPU of robots.. Cherubim are special variants of those who appear to be babies... Newer lore states that the cherubim are vat-grown.

I think they only added that lore to take the edge off the idea that the Imperium of Man lobotomizes babies to turn them into tiny creepy angel robots. Even if the lore wasn't added recently its still quite possibly one of the most downright horrifying things 40k does.

Next up is another member of the Emeraldgard. These are the elite soldiers who guard the Royalty of Morrighan. So far I have 10 models for this, just enough for a kill team.

These guys are all sorts of Tacticool.

I primarily use Kabalite green on them which I think is my favorite GW color. It looks so good.

Next up is an Ebay Rescue. A Sister Superior who was part of an auction labelled "Sister Command Squad" which isn't a thing that exists. She now will command her own squad of 5 sisters for this currently unnamed clan (the red & white)

I tried a few different techniques for the powersowrd and it came out alright but I think I'll want to keep refining my technique there.

Next up is the big brain moves with a Rogue Psyker from Blackstone Fortress.

He has a tentacle coming out of his armpit to better grasp his staff which is hilarious to me.

His cloak looks kind of brownish here when its actually red and I'm not sure why tbh.

Next up is another oldschool Chaos Warrior. I tried some new techniques and another variant on the flame axe again!. You can see I painted up his visor this time.

I avoided attempting any major blending of the flame pattern this time and didn't use the black steel look I did on the metal either and I think this ends up looking a lot better.

Not really much to see. I used a different grey for his basecoat this time. "London Grey" instead of "Eshin Grey" it was lighter initially but I think achieved the same 'black' look in the end after the washes.

One final look from the other side.

DEFEND THE WELL!
